Dirk: Let’s keep it clean

Dirk Kuyt is desperate for Liverpool to keep a clean sheet on Sunday – so his good mate Pepe Reina can break ANOTHER Anfield record.

Heading into the game, the Spanish custodian has managed 99 shut outs in the league in just 196 games – and will reach the 100 mark faster than any other ‘keeper in the Reds history should he keep another blank at White Hart Lane.

Reina’s nearest rivals are Ray Clemence (217), Bruce Grobbelaar (225) matches and Elisha Scott (283).

Kuyt said: “For me, he’s one of the best ‘keepers in the world. It says it all that he is going to better these great names. Hopefully he will get his clean sheet on Sunday because that means we’ll have got a good result. He’s done a great job for Liverpool so far and I’m sure he will do in the future.

“A goalkeeper is very important and every year since I’ve been here Pepe has picked up points for us. A ‘keeper can hold you in a game and that’s what he’s done a lot of times for us.

“His distribution is great, and he’s also a great lad. On and off the pitch he’s very important for the team. We’re quite close off the pitch. We like to play golf when the weather is not too cold and rainy.”
